Replying to Hot Match messages.Question

Can some one please tell me if people who don't subscribe to Genes can read messages sent in response to a Hot Match.I know they can't reply.
I have sent several queries lately and i can see that the mail has been opened,but only one person so far has replied back to me,with either a "yes they are the same person" or "no they are not"
I hope i'm not just being ignored!

Shame is the contacts could possibly have been my grans family and in my age group

I usually wait a month and send a follow up on the lines of

"I was just checking my contacts list and wondered if you have had time to look at my message regarding xyz who was etc etc. I look forward to hearing from you, kind regards"

No guarantees but often does the trick for me.
