Hi Jessica,

As the records you are looking for are quite old they should be at the county records office for the relevant force. More recent ones would be at the relevant force headquarters and you would need to write to their Freedom of Information Office with your request.

Hi Jessica
I know that they keep lots of police records at the national archives at Kew.
I have been their as my 3 x grandfather was a sargeant in the met police.
I have a copy of his pension records.
Good luck

There is a new book out that deals with this subject - I will look up the details if you are interested

There is quite a comprehensive Metropolitan Police site - it rather depends on where your chap served.

National Archives online may be useful too.

Have a google.

Hello
Does anybody know if there is anyway to access records regarding time spent in the police service?
Frank Ridgley (D.O.B 30.11.1898) is listed on my grandfathers BC as being a police constable. They lived in Hampton in Middlesex. The date on my Grandfathers BC is 1921.
Anybody any ideas of where I would look for info' about his service?
Many Thanks
Jessica
