All people have to do is say Yes or No , I would have thought that would be the polite thing to , after all what is the point of being a member on here if you don't want to find ( hopefully ) your family.

That took me about a minute , so not a lot of time out of your day is it ?

"Can a non-paying member reply to the Hot Match message that you send to them?"

... a non-paying member can't initiate contact but can reply to any messages received.

"Are you sure that they have seen and opened the message that you have sent to them?"

... if you go to your "Sent messages", any messages that you've sent and that have been viewed by the recipient are marked with an open envelope icon. If the recipient has not viewed it, the icon is a sealed envelope.

Cheers
Richard

Hi Caroline

I do tend to ignore hot matches that only have one or two matches with my tree. I do get about 50 per session, and I can't reply to them all. I look at those with 4 or 5 matches, but the rest I have to ignore unless the person is someone I am having problems with.

I assume that if I do not reply, the person also assumes I don't have a match. I have lost count of the people I have replied to positively, where I can see there is a definite match, and they haven't responded. Out of 30 per fortnight, I bet only one replies.

Of course, that one might be vital, so we continue.

Not sure how to advise you.

Just one question

you do not have to pay a subscription fee to put up your tree on GR

If you are not a paid-up member, you cannot post on these boards, nor can you send pms through the system to other members.

GR's computer produces the Hot Matches.

I presume they do not separate out trees owned by paid-up and non-paying members

Can a non-paying member reply to the Hot Match message that you send to them???? I'm asking because I don't know whether they can or not!

Also .......................... many many trees on here are owned by people who no longer frequent the site, and may even be dead.

Are you sure that they have seen and opened the message that you have sent to them?

Thanks every one, taken all your comments on board its just frusatrating when you get the same person pop up all the time with the same relatives ( it appears) and they open your massages but don't reply. Maybe Im a black sheep and I don't even know it.

I'd have to agree with Island on this one.

Please can people reply to messages we send to them when you have a hot match. A simple yes or no would do, but it is very frustrating when the contact opens your message and just ignores it you never know if it is the same family.
Please reply
Thank you
