Belfast is in Antrim. Try the name first without any county.

You're welcome. I have found family there in Belfast.

If only previous census had survived (instead of just partial ones), then research into our Irish ancestral family would be much easier :-)

Joy

Thanks for all that info. it will keep me busy for awhile - the irish side of family is very hard to trace.

The 1911 census is being put on line first -
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/

It is free.

http://www.nationalarchives.ie/census.html

The initial phases of the Irish 1901 and 1911 census website featuring the returns for counties Dublin, Antrim, Down and Kerry for 1911, were launched in December 2007 and December 2008. Fully indexed by name and with free access to the digitised images of the original manuscript household forms, the returns can be viewed on the census site at http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie - the site also contains a wealth of photographs and essays on life in Ireland at that time, with links to illustrative census forms.

Publication of the other counties will follow in the order outlined in the Future plans page of the census website
