I have managed to trace a fair bit of my family as living in india, I'm realy struggling to find anymore information and was wondering if anyone could help.

It involves two families. William Alfred Chevis b1876 who served in India in the Royal Artillery. He met my greatgreatgreat grandmother Alice Ida Brooks b1877 while in India (marriage in Allahabad, India 1899). She was born in India and i believe she is the daughter of Thomas and Sophia Louisa Brooks. This is unfortunaly all i can find on her (Alice) and William Alfred Chevis.

William Alfred Chevis appears on the 1880 census living with his uncle and aunt, but his brother ~(who is living with him in 1911) does not appear even though he was born before 1880.

I dont think ive explained myself too well, but any help would be much appreciated

That is the Thomas Brooks I'm presuming to be her father. odd he was late being christened. It has his father as John and mother Mary i cant seem to in them in India. none of the John Brooks on family search seem to match, but after searching census records in UK i cant seem to find them here. Odd.

Yea this is the site i site i found Albert parent William and Alice Ida on. Thank you for searching though. much appreciated. I've searched familysearch.org, and india office records and cant seem to get any furthur with the brooks side or the chevis. The only census with Albert on is the 1880 where he is 4-5 living with his aunt and uncle for some reason and 1911 when he's back in England. I guess his records at KEw may be the only way of gettin more info.

Family search and the British Library online search aren't complete of course. His Army records (at Kew) would just really give you the basics - year and place of birth, trade, summary of service and possibly next of kin and who he married and when and where. The British Library may have the relevant birth and marriage records.
