Can anyone tell me how to find info on 2 relatives from the 1840s born in Ireland? One in County Meath and one in Queens Co. ? The one from Queens Co. has a quite uncommon name (I think!) Berkeley George Mitchell. Any help gratefully received, thanks.

Hi Linda

Sign up for the following site. It is free to sign up. When you have found the correct record then you pay to open it and print it off. It is a while since I opened a record, but approx £5.00 rings a bell. Cheaper than £7.00 for an English birth cert anyway.

Not all counties are up and running yet but they are putting them on at a rate of knots, and they will send you an e-mail as each new county becomes available. Meath is online, but Queens (now known as Laois, pronounced Leesh) is not online just yet.
