This is nothing... GR is relatively easy to work out, but I agree a few pointers would be helpful to those starting out.

I purchased FTM a year ago and even though I'd previously had an older version it's taken me a year to get to grips with all the functions of FTM 2008 and I'm relatively computer literate! lol

Sorry, just tried in in my tree and it says I don't have a John Smith.....!

Seriously though, it is surprising how many people haven't got to grips with some of the basics. It might help if GR published a basic set of instructions

Hi Everyone,

I seem to have come across a number of researchers recently who have said "I can't find him/her on my tree, at the moment" and I'd like to point out the Search boxes at the top of each tree.

To find someone eg John Smith 1879, in the first of the three boxes type "john", in the second box type "smith" and you can leave the year box blank. Then click on Search and select This Tree.

Shortly after a list of all the John Smiths on your tree will pop up and you can then click on the one you want to see. You can then close the search box using the X in the top right hand corner.
