the marriage for ernest hignett and rose green has finally arrived 23/02/1908, however not a good match the father to ernest listed on the cert is a robert hignett i was hoping it to be james hignett. so now im back to squre one looking for a marriage for ernest and any poss children.....any help appreciated..thanks everyone for your help so far x

There may be others between 1908 and 1911 when the mother's maiden name was recorded on birth indexes.

Just had a look on the Lancashire BMD site - it would seem that Ernest Hignett who married in 1908 was married to Rose Green. There's another Ernest (Ernest F Hignett) who married Lilian Bodell in 1911, though.

This would appear to be the only ernest hignet/t in the liverpool area to fit the bill on 1911 ,and ernest doesnt seem to be married?
Unless hes married to phoebe of course,but she would seem a little young to be his wife?

if you find the marriage on freebmd there will probably be two possible spouses, this gives you two possible mother's maiden names for the children

then search for Births, surname Hignett, mother's maiden name one of the two options, time period 1908 to 1930 (say) and see if any births come up (only births 1911 on will have a mother's maiden name, but unless they only had one child quickly after marrying chances are they would have had more 1911 on)

do the same thing with the other mother's maiden name and see which looks best

you can then try to find the family on the 1911 census

thankyou very much kath yes that is his birth one, and that looks like a good match for a marriage how would i go about looking for children to him and i also cant find his death i will send off for certs of these 2 found again thanks x

been on the bmd index site and was very lucky to have a match for ernest hignett born 1887 liverpool which is the one i was looking for, please though could somebody help me with marrige look up as at that point i got confused as there was more than one my general aim was to see if he had any children but i am boggled! any help would be so appreciated ....i have a lot to learn yet...thanks for reading
