Hello .
I've just had the joy of searching on the 1911 census ( I was waiting for the Welsh ones to be added ).
To my complete amazement ( and confusion ) it seems my Nan had a sister that I have never heard of !!
I've since searched for the birth and or death of this " sister " and cannot find her in any BMDs.
She ( Florence Clissett ) is supposedly 11 in 1911 but isn't on the 1901 census with the family and until an hour ago I'd never heard of her.
Has anyone else had " siblings " like this pop up from no where only to vanish again ?
My G.Grandfather was a bit of a " rouge " I believe , I'm wondering if " Florence " was his by another woman ?

This turn of events has really got me scratching my head .

Amanda

Any other clues like the area you grandmother lived and her name and year of birth. The only Florence Clissett so far in 1901 was born in Newport Wales but she was born c1884.

Hello Mick .

My Nan was Rose Clissett b. 1897 Newport .

I knew she had two sisters from an earlier marriage ( their mother died ) and Nan had ( to my knowledge ) three brothers and one sister . I just can't understand where this Florence has popped up from !

Found this one. Not from Wales.

Florence Clissett 1889 Jan-Feb-Mar Bromsgrove Hereford and Worcester, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Worcestershire

An LDS Family history search brings up an IGI British Isles total of 184 Clissett names. No Florences that I can see.

You can try guessing things and seeing if Florrie's there - she's a daughter, and only the 4 youngest kids had pob=Barry.

Thank you all very much for the interest .....more or less as soon as I posted I had to get off the pc as other family members wanted a go ( isn't that always the way ).

Thank you Jim for posting the transcript of 1911 . It's Florence that I can't understand. She wasn't on the 1901 census and I can't find her birth anywhere . I have never heard her spoken of amongst the family . It all seems most odd .
I suppose it's possible that her name wasn't actually Florence . I had a Great aunt May.....then found out she was Alexandra May Clissett.
Uncle Nelsons name was actually Horation Nelson Clissett !
I suspect my G.Grandfather has visions of grandeur

We all know how census ages can be out. Is it possible Florence was born just after census night in 1901
