Hi again
Sorry, i had to go out. All census info spot on!
Deaths; David - He was 42 when marrying Ann Oct 1874, so was born 1832ish depending on birthdate. Only info i have is, he was a Scottish sailor. Sadly, it doesnt seem that he can be either of those you have kindly located, as first 1 reg in 1904; 2nd one born around 1811. Great searching, I will get a copy cert anyway, as you say could be his Dad.

Death Ann
This is where I went wrong, very coincidently, this Ann was the same age, and lived in the same street, different no, her husband named John, son James.
She died in sad circumstances outside her house.
On the son's death cert states father John signed with a cross, whereas David Burns signed his marriage cert as David Burns - no middle name stated . James Burns is buried with his mother Ann Burns at the cemetry you have identified, which is where we keep putting flowers.
Incidently, Wood street figures greatly in my family, they have lived at many different houses there.

Perhaps David did die at sea, what is best way to find that out?
I have really enjoyed your help.

Thank you so much
Olwyn

Perhaps the one who died in 1882 aged 71 was his dad as David was only 47 on the 1881 census

Interesting then she is a widow by 1891 so maybe David died at Sea. She is living in the same street as the 1881 census but 4 doors away at no 9

Olwyn Report 10 Jun 2009 16:16

Hi all.
For years I have been placing flowers on a previously unmarked grave of an Ann Burns whom I and other family members believed to be our great great grandmother (Spion Kop cemetry Hartlepool). Imagine our surprise when only last week we found
out this was the wrong Ann Burns also born in 1832, and lived in the same street.
We have been unable to locate the death of Ann Burns also her husband David. So that we may put flowers on the correct grave! They were married in Hartlepool in 1874, 9th
October.
Please can anyone help? Thank you so much.
Olwyn
