Patrick, could I take you up on your offer re place names in Ireland?

My Irish ggggrandfather married in Melbourne in 1842 and gave his place of birth as Misserig, Co. Monaghan. I have even emailed the Monaghan county library to try to find this place but in vain.

It might of course have been misheard at the time, or miscopied some time later. However any thoughts on this would be very helpful, he is a major brick wall.

Many thanks for the suggestions. I too had googled it and nothing came up.

Maura's suggestion seems the most likely. I will check it out.

Thank you!

Google shows no results at all for Cullannin, it can't be the correct spelling as Google does not offer any other suggestions for it.

Hello all,

This may not be the correct area to post this in but I wasn't sure where else to put it...

I have a copy of a the marriage record for my gt gt grandfather and in the address section is the word/place 'Cullannin'. Could anyone shed any light on where this may be? I know it is in Co. Mayo as that is where the record comes from.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
