Hello,

Any tips on why it is so difficult to navigate around my tree ?

Any tips on default view when I first log into my tree ?

SOmetimes when I hit the full tree button all I get is an empty page - any ideas why ?

Where are the FAQs please ?

Regards

for some strange reason my tree has turned upside down and now starts with the earliest ancestor instead of me.

You've probably hit the descendants button so it is showing you all that persons descendants, once you've found you (see below) if it only shows you hit the ancestors button, should bring them all back.

Type your name into the search at the top, hit the search button and select search your tree and it should bring your name up, click on your name and it will take the tree back to starting with you, you can do this for any relative.

Since they updated the tree's a few months back I avoid the big tree view as its very jerky and difficult to navigate, luckily though I have me tree on a few other sites, the most user friendly if you tend to add ancestors siblings and go off on tangents is probably myheritage, although for my detailed family tree (with pictures and certs) I keep everything on my computer using family tree maker. Gene's for me I use just incase I get a hotmatch and they don't require more than the basic info.

Also if you are new remember to 'hide' living relatives and never put anyone living on your tree without their permission and don't put young children on it, if you want to record them keep notes offline.

I have mine set to Immediate Family. Occasionally I use Ancestors or Descendants view when moving around, but I don't think I have ever bothered with Full View.

It is easier and a bit less jerky if you make sure your screen display is filled. Use the Ctrl key and scroll key.

I like mine as full as it will go just before the left / right scroll bar appears. On the normal GR pages this means the tabs at the top just fill the screen L to R without going onto a second line, and only a very tiny grey margin on the side.
