Thank you all,

I am always amazed and grateful for the help I receive on GR. Without you I would still be looking in the 1900's.

Thanks again

I have sent you a list of baptisms for the children of William and Anne and as their first child Joseph was b in1827 you need to look at earlier years for their marriage. I can't find any marriages at Gt Budworth but the records for the parish are held at Cheshire county records office

The IGI pilot site
http://search.labs.familysearch.org

has the Cheshire baptisms marriages and burials from 1583-1907

I tied your man, but unfortunately there was no result. I tried a search for just Ann in Great Budworth in 1831-2, but it only came up with a result for 1826, no good for you, but the site may be of use if you need to go further back

Hi Sue.
Obviously getting the child's birth cert is the way to go, but out of interest there is a William Knight on familysearch marrying an Ann Bateman in 1826. This was in Daresbury, which according to googlemap is only 7 miles from Great Budworth. Will be interesting to see if this is them!

Hello Gwyn,

Yes they did, I'll order a cert for one of the children then.

Thanks for your help

Did they have any children after 1837?
A birth certificate would show the mother's maiden name.

I am looking for the marriage of:

William Knight b. Great Budworth Cheshire c. 1806 to

Ann ?? b. South Wales c. 1805

After they married they continued to live in Great Budworth, the first child was born in c. 1831

I have trawled through Pallotts and maybe I have missed it but am at a loss as to where to look next. It's Ann's surname I need because South Wales isn't much help.

Any suggestions please?

Thanks.

Sue
