All i know is Thomas Clarkson,his son was born in Lancaster c1814. He (Thomas) got married in Kendal to Elizabeth Potter in 1837. On marrage cert it states that, Thomas,s age was of full age, and his father was Robert a flax dresser and that he was decesed.looked on Lancs o p c site and found the following,
Baptism; 20 March 1814 St Marys Lancaster
Thomas Clarkson- son of Margret Clarkson
born 1st March 1814.
Abode Lancaster
notes illegte.
Baptised by J Rowley curate
REG of baptisms 1813-1818 page 61 entry 488.

Mary Clarkson- Daughter of Robert Clarkson and Margret.
Born 12 Jan 1833.
Abode Lancaster.
Occupation flax dresser.
Baptised by John Hull curate.
Register; baptisms 1831-1837. page 91 entry 722.

Your thoughts on the above would be appreciated.
Can anyone find marrage of Robert to Margret .Or Roberts death/burrial.

Margaret Clarkson would have had to marry a Robert Clarkson for your theory to work and I can't see a marriage.

I did find another child of a Robert and Margaret Clarkson listed below in the same area which gives the wife's maiden name as Fishwick (as below) so they may not be the parents of your Thomas.

I also checked the NBI for a burial of a Robert Clarkson and couldn't find one that would match

Sorry Alan they are not my relations i have them on 1851 census, living in Kendal.
what i was thinking was could Margret have been already married to Robert, when she was pregnant with Thomas.So that was not his child.When Thomas was born,Robert might not have wanted anything to do with him,hence he (Robert) was described as decised on Thomas,s wedding cert.
