Would anyone know if and where there were any US Military based in Oxfordshire & or Surrounding Areas of the Spring of 1948 about the time of the (Berlin Airlift) please.

I think at that time Ruislip, just NW of London, was the biggest USAF base in the UK.

The spring, April;/May of 1948 is important in that they would have been there at that time.

It's really just a matter of Googling the internet using the terms such as USAF together with, say, "Bushy Park". For example:

They generally used RAF bases or ex RAF bases. They were in or near Birmingham in the 50's

It is unlikely that you would be able to get information on the whereabouts of troops from official sources - however I would think a good source of information would be local papers archives. There would be bound to be reports in them of various 'happenings' perhaps such as troops helping at local events, or perhaps reports of drinking and unruly behaviour. There could also be letters to the editor either complaining of noise from aeroplanes and jeeps or heavy vehicles, or there might be letters saying how nice the Airmen were with helping out or giving things to the community.
If possible also go and visit the area and talk to old people who have long memories and love to impress with their knowledge. Local shop/village post offices are a great source of info. if they are still there.
