Every top feed printer has a paper sensor it looks like your is stuck up and it thinks there's paper stuck in when there isn't, usually caused when it pulls in a lot of paper instead of just one sheet, open the printer as if your going to change the cartridge, there's usually a hole that you can poke a paper clip into to knock the sensor backdown, it's usually situated by the rollers on the right hand side of the bed if that don't work or you can't find it drop the printer squarely onto a carpet from about 3 inches height, this usually knocks the sensor back down. This dropping technique used to work on my old Epson cx3200

Printers are not worth repairing, I recently got quotes for someone to look at mine, as it was just a year old, but they all said, just scrap it.

It scrunched up a bit of paper, which I removed, but a tiny corner was missing. I spent ages messing about with it and I thought I had removed all the bits, but the printer then kept giving an error message which when I googled it, suggested that a tiny sliding mechanism inside had come adrift. I found the bit, but it was moving freely, so I was resigned to buying a new one.

Unfortunately I had just bought loads of new ink cartridges while they were on special offer, so I bid for an identical model on Ebay, putting in a highish bid to make sure I got it.

In the meantime,as the printer was going to be thrown out, I started to take it to bits and deep inside the thing I discovered a miniscule shred of paper.Once I removed it, the printer was fine. Unfortunately I won the other printer,so now am the proud owner of two identical printers!!

Hi Jonesey,

Tried that. The other half is making his way to the shed to get the hammer.

I have a load of info I need to print off and the printer is throwing a huff.........It keeps telling me to "clear the jam", but there is no jam. We cannot see anything at all that could be causeing it.

Any suggestions other than using a 14lb hammer???
