Was he married on the l9ll census - if so, were there any children? Have you tried searching for them? Perhaps he died on a visit to Ireland? I believe there is a member on one of the boards who does Irish look ups.

hi Ivy

I know he was alive in 1911 so i'v checked from then until 1973.

Will have a look on irish site see if i'v missed anything.
Next area where his wife died.

Not a solution, but just to add that deaths are registered where they take place, not where the deceased usually lived - so if he went to visit relatives in Ireland and died during the trip, the death would be registered in Ireland. However, bodies are then often brought home for burial - have you tried burial grounds local to his address? Also, checking whether he registered his wife's death would give you a place to start looking at the electoral rolls. If he was still alive, you could check forward - if not, check backwards?

Hi Joy

Looks like that side of my family must come to an end now - no where else to search

Hi Liz
Don't know if he went back to Ireland, but can't think why he would and leave his family in England.

I think you're right, he would be deceased by now. If still alive he'd be 136!
Have you checked the obvious 2 spellings, Mc and Mac?
