Helen :-)

However, it depends what sort of time frame you are talking about.
It is best to contact the appropriate records office to ascertain which records they have and for which years.
I'll bring forward some threads about visiting records offices.

Joy, you beat me to it, I realised when I had clicked submit that parish registers obviously have the same info (for marriages) or similar info (for baptisms / burials). Helen

One can go to records offices and search parish registers on fiche / film.

I am pretty sure that the only way you can view the information that is on the certificate but not in the index is by buying the certificate. I am sure someone with more knowledge than me will correct me if I am wrong.

You can of course view the parish registers which will give baptism info (not births), marriages and burials (not deaths), if you know the parish to search. Many of these are on the IGI site and will also be either still in the church (if the book is still in use) or in local records offices, often on microfilm. Some have been released on film or CD so you could google to see what you could find.

Hi,
May seem like a daft question, but apart from ordering copies of certificates, is there any way to view the information on the record in its entirety.
eg, is there anywhere you can go to view the registers or copies of them.
New at all this and have already spent a fortune on certificates so looking for a way round it if possible.
Thanks for your time
Jacqui
