Interesting that I cannot find a marriage on the IGI for Joseph and Emily or Emma AND that baby Emily's surname is shown as .

I'm not sure what this means ........ but wonder if it means that the parents were not married, although Joseph acknowledged her as his child???????????

thanks for giving me infomation. i was told joseph (born 1821) married mary palmer then emily?. i found the mothers name to be emily on census records too. they did have a daughter emily born in 1870. so unsure now. can't afford a certificate so i guess i'm at a dead end as i don't want to assume anything, like the census return having misheard the wrong name (emily not emma). thankyou all for trying though.

Free BMD only has 4 people listed.

I think the other male on Ancestry has been given the wrong transcription because the district is Cheltenham not Bristol.

Have just checked the 1871 census and they have a daughter Emily 6 mths so this must be her birth.

There is no Emily but an Emma.

hi i'm trying to find a marrage between joseph paddock and emily (unknown) the marrage was in 1869 in bristol volume 2a page 72. where do i find the page so i can look up emilys maiden name, and therefore search further back?
