Yes your user name will be your email address.

I find credit card companies if a service hasn't been provided are happy to suspend interest on that item until the dispute is resloved, then again I've always done it with items over £100, but some ancestry memberships do cost that much or more if paid in a lump sum.

Sorry I didn't spell out 'as a last resort' but that is what I meant, hence providing Ancestrys UK contact number.

Irene I am sure you will get the hang of it, I can get myself in a mess with user names and passwords and I'm not even 30 yet.

I do though have problems with ancestry it constantly locks me out, won't accept my password, so I have to keep asking for the email that allows you to change your password, to this day it doesn't work properly, my solution is I don't log out of it, if I do accidentally log out, I always have to get them to send me an email, luckily its automated system so normally arrives in minutes.

Irene,
Your user name is not your e-mail address.
When you signed up did they ask you for a name to use?
It usually consists of a name, say Irene, and 2 or 3 numbers and this comes up on the site when you log on to it,just look at the top.
We have all needed help, and like you am an o.a.p so don't get bothered about it.
You can p.m.me if you like by clicking on my name and I can go through it with you instead of going on the thread.

Credit card co will not be interested unless as a last resort i.e. when the company has gone into liquidation. The amount of money in dispute also needs to be over £100.

Likelihood is that Irene is haveing difficulties working out how to log in to the site.

I assume for Ireland you need to add/subtract number approriately.

Monday - Friday : 9:00 am - 7:00 pm GMT
Saturday : 9:00 am - 5:00 pm GMT
Sunday : Closed

Details straight off the ancestry site, call them.

Edit: I've never not known them to pick up, although it does take them at least a few days to get back to you via email.

If you still have no luck how'd you pay, if it was via credit card put the payment into dispute, tell the card company ancestry are not supplying the service so you would like a refund, may take a while, but should get ancestrys attention if all else fails.

If I remember correctly, you will not get a confirmation email from them. You simply log in with the name and password that you used when you subscribed.

It matters not one iota which Ancestry site you log on to.

To access records, you need your user name and password. Do you have these?

Irene, not sure if this is relevant, but did you join Ancestry.com or the Ancestry uk site at Ancestry.co.uk?

Irene

Irene Report 7 Jul 2009 16:38

Did they send you an email confirming your membership - if so you may be able to get onsite through that email. Irene
