Presumably the death certificate shows a birth date.
If you know where the birth was registered, that ( birthplace) office may perhaps issue a certificate, especially as you can aso give mother's maiden name, as shown in the GRO index.

Jenny, is it the GRO asking for the parents' names? Haven't come across this before, but then have never sent for a cert before 1926! Seems a bit strange to me.
Anyway, if you have the precise birth details, it would be possible to find his birth on ancestry. From this one could find his mother's maiden name, then hopefully his parents' marriage from that.
You could pm someone with these details as it is so recent - me if you wish!

Hi, can anyone help please.
My niece is trying to locate her grandparents and she is not in contact with her mother and her father is deceased. It is her fathers parents she is trying to locate. I have a copy of her fathers death certificate and I have the reference info to obtain her fathers birth certificate. However, because it is fairly recent, last 20 years or so, I don't have her fathers parents full names. When trying to order the certificate it said these were required. To my knowledge my niece's mother and father were not married so I am unable to the grandparents names from a marriage certificate.
Any suggestions on where to go from here please?
I would be most grateful, thank you
