I am trying to find James Chantrell's parents.

Half an hour ago I put this request on the Records board but to no avail. I think maybe this is the correct board for advice.

I am trying to find the parents of James Chantrell, born abt. 1798, married Susan Stark/Stearck 2nd April, 1821, St. Leonards Shoreditch.

I have checked the IGI film – parish marriage record. No parents’ names. The only additional information – witnesses Clifford Elishay and William … Stark.

How can I go about finding a birth record?

If he was still alive in 1851 (which is possible), you might be able to find his birthplace out using the census. With any luck, this should help you find a possible baptism record in the right area.

1851 and 1861 has them born St Pancras and Islington.

I haven't had much success with records, not really knowing how to approach the search other than through IGI or visiting these particular record offices in London.
Any further ideas very welcome!

Look for other Chantrells born around the same time. There aren't too many of them so they could all be related.

Possible parents?
