My wife's grandfather was born in Dublin. What we hadn't realized until we started researching that it was normal practice for children born in Hospital (the Rotunda Hospital in our case) to be registered by the hospital staff a day or so after birth, without a christian name.

We have a few of her grandfathers siblings like that which are registered as Boy, or Girl.

Thanks MB

Yes,I've tried the pilot scheme,
its so frustrating ,I've found both sets gt grandparents in the 1911 Irish census but the GRO have no births/marriages for them ,my grandparents or my dad,
so I'll start at the church where my dad was baptised and work my way outwards from that.

http://www.dublinchurches.com/churches/start.htm will come in very useful ,thank you.

First try Googling to see if the church you want to contact has a website - if so it will give you a contact email address.

If you have to contact them by post remember to include a sae

Some churches have a fixed fee for sending info. If not then it is considerate to send a small donation if they do some searching for you.

Good luck. Angela

I have tried to order some certificates through groireland
they have not been able to trace them so I need to approach the Church to see if they can find anything for me,
has anybody got any advice on the best way to do this,
I don't know if the Church has the relevant information or if they will look for information for me or the cost.
