Jones I have no Idea both spellings are quite common varients the modern standardised name is Wintrip.

So far in all my searching i have not come across any deaths for these early generations and dont know where to look.

At the mo I am going through every wintrip in scotland on the IGI and have come across a twin in the next generation and lots of possible children for the siblings of my direct ancestors but again have no way of cornfirming if they belong to the right people

BVRI has 3 children of Alexander Winterup & Jennet Grey. I suspect the earlier one that you have is a different family. It was in Jedburgh not Roxburgh and no mother's name was given.

WINTERUP, William Christening
Gender: Male
Christening Date: 6 Aug 1705 Recorded in: Roxburgh, Roxburgh, Scotland
Father: Alexander WINTERUP
Mother: Jennet GRAY
Source: FHL Film 102301 + Dates: 1651 - 1821

WINTERUP, Christian Christening
Gender: Female
Christening Date: 29 Aug 1708 Recorded in: Roxburgh, Roxburgh, Scotland
Father: Alexander WINTERUP
Mother: Jennet GRAY

WINTERUP, Elspeth Christening

Although if you think they're the same family, BVRI has these 3 born Jedburgh:

WINTROP, John Christening
Gender: Male
Christening Date: 12 Feb 1696 Recorded in: Jedburgh, Roxburgh, Scotland
Father: Alexander WINTROP
Source: FHL Film 1067943 Dates: 1642 - 1737

WINTROP, William Christening
Gender: Male
Christening Date: 13 Feb 1698 Recorded in: Jedburgh, Roxburgh, Scotland
Father: Alexander WINTROP
Source: FHL Film 1067943 Dates: 1642 - 1737

WINTROP, Issobell Christening
Gender: Female
Christening Date: 19 Jul 1699 Recorded in: Jedburgh, Roxburgh, Scotland
Father: Alexander WINTROP
Source: FHL Film 1067943 Dates: 1642 - 1737

Then 2 in Roxburgh;
Then this one in Oxnam:

WINTERHOPE, Isobel Christening
Gender: Female
Christening Date: 30 Aug 1713 Recorded in: Oxnam, Roxburgh, Scotland
Father: Alexander WINTERHOPE
Source: FHL Film 1067950 Dates: 1700 - 1854

Then one more in Roxburgh.
Notice now there are 3 isobel/Issobbels.

right my tree as i have it is

alexander born 1673 = Jannet grey married in june 1694 in jedburgh

I have John 1696 william 1698 isobel 1699 william 1705 christain 1708 eslpeth 1716.

I have john as my direct ancestor marrying Christian brown in 1730 in Eckford although there is a submitted IGI record that has John 1705 marrying christian brown but dont think this is right.

I also have a marriage banns for a Margaret winthrap to George cairns in 1731 in eckford that gives alexander wintrope name(both spellings are used on the same document) but i have not been able to find a birth record for her.

I have trawled through the igi and scotland people but there dosnt seem to be another Alexander who would fit the bill for being the father of John 1696. or another alexander who could be the father of the later children and why would there be such a gap between alexander and jannet marrying in 1694 and not having their first child till 1705?

I dismissed the oxnam one as being to far removed in spelling an its is a place that dosnt crop up anywhere else where as jedburgh eckford and roxburgh all do.

I suspect that those are indeed the children of William but as yet i havent recorded them as i have been busy with my direct line.
