Jim do you know me such a co issidence as you gave GEORGE as a example that is my main branch of the family. Not today though.

Have you checked for a late 1961 or early 1963 birth?

Enter the surname and date in the the main search box.
Click enter
select England & Wales, Birth Index: 1916-2005
Now scroll down, there is another search box.
Use it however you like .

Anne. if the birth is on the pages you should find it without having to trawl through as all have been transcribed (I think!)
However, I believe you can access the pages if you wish. Click on search, then the birth marriages and deaths, then births 1916-2005 (as usual) then scroll down and click on the year you want. PM me if you want me to have a look.

Hi Click on Birth index 1916-2005 then you can get to the pages by spanning to below Source information to Please Choose a year range

Rather than Ancestry, you can search the images on FreeBMD, it is a little tedious, but can be done.
Click on "View Images" and follow the prompts.
This will bring up a listing of all the images that start with the surname letter, so you will have to trawl the images.

I havent explained properly. I done that but all I get are individual names, none matches the name I have, I am willing to go through page by page but cant get onto the pages.

Hi Anne,

Just go to the home page, scroll down alittle and then just add the details. Then go to Birth, Marriage & Death, then go to England & Wales, Birth Index: 1916-2005.

Hello,
I am trying to fine a birth for 1962, I have the birth name but cant find it when i search ancestry. I am prepared to go through the pages one at a time but only come up with individual names. How do I get to the pages.
