Can't find any children born in Somerset around that time that have the same parents. I will continue looking to see if there are any children born between Bridget and Thomas either in Ireland or London.

Hello Lis...Yes I guessed that may have been what happened it may be worthwhile having a look for other children b.Bath...it seems strange that there is a gap of 10yrs between John and Stephen....

ErinGoBragh1916 -
You are right. I made a mistake re Stephen' s birth place. I do have him down as being born in Camerton, Bath c 1838. I was confusing him and his son!!
I got all my information from the census pages on Genes reunited

Eringobragh1916 Report 25 Jul 2009 10:06

Lisa...I have checked the Foys on the 1881 Census and although I have located a possible Thomas Foy (born Chelsea for the date you state) the only Stephen Foy (born abt 1838) was born in Bath however his son Stephen was born Chelsea....The family are living in Battersea....
Where did you get your information regarding the Foys from....?

Lisa

Lisa Report 24 Jul 2009 21:42

All the info I have is that Thomas and Stephen were born in Chelsea

Eringobragh1916 Report 24 Jul 2009 19:48

Lisa...Where did they live when they moved to England...?

Lisa

Lisa Report 24 Jul 2009 19:47

Yes I have checked the site that Joy suggested and also googled Foy however without success. There seem to be no records pre 1840ish available.
I am not sure exactly when they moved over to England. If Bridget was born in Ireland c1821 then it must be between 1821 and 1828

Eringobragh1916 Report 24 Jul 2009 19:06

Lisa...I have searched my records and the earliest I have found so far is 1828 Nov.26 Marriage of Patrick Foy to Catherine Nally.. East Mayo RC Parish records.
The earliest for a Thomas Foy is to a Bridget Cosgrove 1830...(month not legible) and that was in Claremorris.....

Eringobragh1916 Report 24 Jul 2009 17:56

Lisa...have you checked out the site that Joy flagged for you....was it of any value...? If you have not found anything on there then I will look at the Co.Mayo records I have.
When did you first find them in England.....
It all helps to eliminate other Foys who were /are still in the Co.Mayo...

I know that they had a daughter Bridget who was born in Co Mayo and their sons Thomas (1828) and Stephen (1838) were born in Chelsea, London but when they came across I don't know.

Does anyone know of an online site that has information of births in Ireland in the late 1700's and early 1800's?
