Thank you for that, but one of the wills I saw at the records office and was the original and there was nothing else with it so that wasn't the case with that one. The others were all ordered from documents on line at the National Archives and presumably they would have included that with the will.

often wills from that period had a schedule of 'goods owned' filed with the will. Thos would list everything down to the last pig and frying pan.
These lists are often held at the appropriate record office filed with the will.

I have several wills now dating from the late 1700s and early 1800s in which I can see "who got what" but they don't tell me the value of the total of the estate left.
Does anyone know of a way of finding out what my ancestors were worth financially when they died?
