Does anyone know whether or not a baby born in September 1868 in Rochester, Kent, according to the census, could have been registered at Woolwich?

Rochester births should be MEDWAY registration district

Woolwich is now a SE london suburb and is about 24 miles from Rochester so a Rochester birth wouldn't be reg in Woolwich it would be Medway Reg district

Definitely not. Course, the census could be wrong.

Hi. I always thought it should be Medway. However, as the Father worked with the navy as a tailor I just wondered.....the census is definitely right.

Thanks everyone!

Perhaps the mother went to have her baby in Woolwich if her husband was away
