Hi,

Can anyone offer any tips on finding information on stillbirths from 1924, it looks like they only started recording them in 1927 but a relative of mine has a twin who died at birth but doesn't even know whether her sibling was a boy or a girl.

I know the birthdate, location and have information on the parents, is there anyway at all of finding out more about my relatives twin?

Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.

Vicky

If the child died "at birth" then it would sound like he/she were born alive. In which case they should be registered as a birth then registered as a death.

have you looked up the birth of the surviving twin? anonone else on the same page that might be the missing one?

Hi,

Thank you both for your replies, I believe it was a stillbirth, I've found the birth information for the surviving twin but unfortunately there was no sibling listed.

I also checked the death records for the same period but again drew a blank. From what I undertsand details of stillbirths weren't recorded until 1927 and this was 1924, could there be a record of the stillborn twin anywhere else?

Thanks again,

Vicky
