I'm looking for an Andrew Black who died 26.04.36, I thought that getting the death certificate would give me the dob, unfortunately it didn't only his age, also I can't trace a marriage certificate for him, he married Louisa Annie Ireland, we think he might of been born in Scotland but have tried ScotlandsPeople but without a dob this is impossible. Any ideas where to try next.

Hi Caroline The date of births on death certs only started in the June quarter of 1969.
Have you located his marriage cert as that should give his dads name
Edit i see you say you havent located his marriage

On the Scotlands people website you have to have the exact spelling or it won't find anyone. You could try and search again but this time use the soundex option, also searching the census will put you in the right direction.

this looks like their son still in the Newcastle reg district
Name: Frank A Black
Mother's Maiden Surname: Ireland
Date of Registration: Apr May Jun 1928
Registration district: Newcastle T
Registration county: Cumberland, Northumberland/Westmorland
Volume Number: 10b
Page Number: 11
So Andrew was 40 when his son was born so possibly a late marriage.have you got this birth cert .

Hi Shirley
Thanks, Frank is my Dad but unfortunately he was just a young boy when his dad (Andrew Black) died, yes I have his certificate but no further info, only that Andrew seems to have been a groom, looking after horses on a big estate somewhere in Northumberland and prior to that we believe he was in the Royal Scots Greys, but without a dob you can't confirm anything.
Thanks for your help

Hi Caroline
There isnt any marriages coming up for your dads parents Wondered whether Louisa may have been previously married so the marriage would have been in another surname for her.
Tried FreeBMD for a marriage with just a christian name of Louisa /Louise(just in case) but again nothing came up.Makes me wonder if they did indeed marry in Scotland
