Paul....I have checked the Irish in L.Pool (1851)..I dont have the Census per se and there are a number of Fenlons Co.Carlow listed not least an Edward and a William ..(Dock labourers...)..If you can check or get someone to check for you it may be of help.

Evening Paul.....
Given that William was born 1844 and married to Mary Conway in L.Pool by 1860 (which would make him barely 16yrs.old) and she no doubt younger I would check the MC and see what ages are ages stated...Both would have had to have parental permission for the marriage and it may be worthyour while to check and see if either or both sets of parents were in L.Pool at the time...

Paul...Can you list all you have in relation to Wm.Fenlon....eg where he was on 1881 Census...who were his wives....were did you get his place of Birth from..?

There were dozens of Fenlons in the Co.Carlow but I haven't found any as yet in the Kildaven area...
Kildaven is a Townland in the Barony of St.Mullens Upper... Civil Parish Barragh... Poor Law Union... Shillelagh.

List what you have and we can take it from there..

There seems to be someone with that name on the 1861, 1881, 1891 and 1901 census.

Did he marry twice? There's someone with that name and age married to Mary Conway? and then on later census records to someone called Margaret?

Edit: if it is the same person, perhaps one of the marriage certificates may give further clues although you seem to know the name of his father.
