	presumably one of your parents is her child - what is their surname - you must know that and where geographically are we talking about?

I know she was married before maybe twice as the children came from 2 different fathers but of course there names were changed to the family name Lacey thanks for everyones help Pauline

	This looks like the marriage between Gladys M Wilks (no e on the index) and William A Lacey: Name: Gladys M Wilks Spouse Surname: Lacey Date of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar 1948 Registration district: Burton Registration county (inferred): Staffordshire Volume Number: 9b Page Number: 193 Assuming the spelling Wilks is correct, i.e. it isn't Wilkes, then there are a few possibles of Gladys M somethings marrying chaps called Wilks: Gladys M Hudson Wilks Jan-Feb-Mar 1919 Middlesbrough Gladys M Martel Wilks Oct-Nov-Dec 1931 Devonport Gladys M Perry Wilks Jul-Aug-Sep 1935 Brentford Gladys M Ridsdale Wilks Apr-May-Jun 1944 Thorne Gladys M Talbot Wilks Apr-May-Jun 1942 Uxbridge Just something that's confusing me - you say she was married before so presumably Wilks was NOT her maiden name. You also say you have found her on the 1911 census age 5, so what is her surname on the 1911 census? If its Wilks and she was married before, then we aren't looking for a Wilks/Lacey marriage in 1948 ... Just checked the 1911 and this is the entry you are referring to: HOUSEHOLD WILKES GLADYS MARY F 1906 5 Shipston on Stour Warwickshire so Wilkes was her maiden name ... now really confused! right - just gone back to Ancestry and looked for William Lacey, and the same marriage in 1948 as above has him marrying Winter or Wilks - so maybe Wilks was Gladys's maiden name and in the past she had married a Winter, will look up Wilks/Wilkes and Winter now no joy I'm afraid, the only marriage between a Wilks/Wilkes and a Winter is in 1920 and our Gladys would only have been 14, so presumably if this is her she married Mr Winter having been married before and so wasn't Wilks/Wilkes on her marriage - I will pull up all the Gladys Ms who married a Winter and you'll have to cross check against the list of Gladys M Wilks/Wilkes
