USA DEATH RECORD

Does anyone know how to go about getting a death certificate for someone who died in Maryland USA in 1959?
This is my great grandmother MARY ANN HUGHES, born MARY ANN SMITH in 1874 in England, married ALBERT WILLIAM HUGHES in England in 1892 and subsequently they emigrated to WATERBURY CONNECTICUT where they lived with their children born in USA and one on a return visit to UK. Mary Ann's first child (my grandmother) was born illegitematley when Mary Ann was 16 and brought up by Mary Ann's parents as their daughter, hense not taken to USA with her mother. I believe that Mary ann and Albert moved to Maryland by the 1930's and that he died before her, she I think lived her later years in a nursing home in Maryland where she died, we have no contact with the family at all and would be interested to know of them and their families. Wondered if by getting her death cert it might give clues to names and addresses, or indeed may be able to contact the nursing home to see if they have records.
Any tips most welcome. Thanks Karen

I don't understand the timeline here.
Mary Ann Smith born 1874.
Married Albert William Hughes 1892.
Then moved to America.
Then Mary Ann came back to England for a visit and gave birth to an illegitimate child at age 16?
Am I reading it wrong?

Hi Gerald

Finding the info is a lot easier than getting a certificate from the US - no reflection on you ace researchers

Different states have different laws, some you can get the cert without much trouble, others will give you an abridged cert and some you need a court order!

Not sure where Maryland sit with the above. My family are scattered NY/Florida/Georgia - Florida being the NO you cant state

There are sites that you can apply through and of course it'll cost you

Best of luck

Ginny

Thank You all for this information, this is most certainly the death record for my Mary Ann Hughes in 1959 and the other info for her her husband and family.
Sorry Margaret, I probabley didn't explain it too well. The child she had at 16 was well before she met and married Albert, they then went to USA and had most of their family, but one child (Herbert) was born on a visit by Mary Ann back to her parents in 1900 with eldest children with Albert (Lydia and Albert W.), two other surviving children are Ethel and Ralph who appear on the 1930 census, would dearly like to know what became of them all, I believe there could have also been twins who did not survive. Can anyone find out more of them by any chance or the death of Mary Ann's husband Albert William?
The marriage in West Bromwich is not the correct one as they married in Kings Norton, I have copy of cert for that one.
Thanks again folks any more info would be great, will now print off what you have given me so i can make a start.
Karen.

Lydia, child, 5, US born
Albert W., child, 4, US born
