Just had another look and the site still seems to be "down". One of my cousins uses it quite a lot, so I will ask him next week - he is away at the moment.

Ozi and Carolyn ive tried googling with no joy also i was a member for devon fhs for years who i never got a lot of help from

so as ive hit a brick wall i dont know were to find any information now

would censuses help

Google, I find that one of the best ways. You'll sometimes find an obscure piece of information.

Just had a look, but Genogold seems to be "down" at the moment. I haven't used it for a few weeks, but I did not pay then. Found a lot of information from the parish records.

There are no certificates (birth marriage or death) before July 1 1837 ...... that's when registration started.


Before that, you have to find the parish records.

margaret buriels at stoke damerel devon please I think the graveyard has been built on now
i cant find my original email now as i wanted to trace william mcdowell
b 1792 dock in devon also his Parents also his second child mary ann mcdowell b 13/4/1817 marriage or death someone has given me thomas death december 1837 so he died young like all the other children but his mother mary ann gerry died 29/1/1837 when he was three

Liz i tried genogold which you have to pay i beleave

Joy could be any parish as they moved a lot in that area
they lived in dock stoke damerel clowance /morice st quarry st ker st
if i bought a death certificate for 1822 1831 1834 1837 would it give me any information how they died

Which town / parish?
Many parishes in Devon have volunteer online parish clerks.

There is a site called Genogold which has parish records online, including some parts of Devon
