Able seaman John Cox who was killed in 1944, on board H.M.S. Prince of Wales.

would love to find how he's related to me he's seems to be stuck in my head at the moment.

I know his service number and also the date he died and his memorial ref,
and his Father and mothers name, he was 34 when he died so birth would be about 1910, can't seem to find the Family on the 1911 census, they were living in Glamorgan at the time of his death.

but no knowledge of where he was born ? any help where to go from here please.

On June 26th, 1944, the Harukiku Maru, a 3.040 tons Dutch stemaer, seized by the Japanese, was torpedoed and sunk by HMS Truculent (Lt.Cdr. R.L. Alexander, DSO, RN) 60 miles SE of Medan, Sumatra.

A little more research shows that the Harukiku Maru was just one of many POW ships held by the Japanese where conditions were absolutely appalling. Many of them were sunk by the Allies with the loss of hundreds of British POW's.
