Hi I am new to building a family tree and would like to know how to get a certificate for a birth death or marriage when you don't know the exact date. I have the quarter and page references for some of my family but not the exact day is this possible? I would be grateful for any help on this please. Thank You

You dont need exact date...................just year, quarter and a name.
If you dont know you can order on-line from GRO

I presume you are talking about England and Wales.

Only use the site I have given above as there are a lot of sites that charge ridiculous fees

On the GRO form, say YES you have the reference and you you do not need the exact date.

The GRO fee is £7 and at the moment it is taking a week from ordering for the certificate to arrive.
