St George in the East was in the St George in the East registration district until 1925, so this one is more likely to be her birth:

Births Mar 1846 (>99%)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Quested Maria Amelia St Geo East 2 106

If you do use ref checking with GRO try not to be too specific as e.g if you say Sarah Jane for mother's name and only Sarah is showing on the cert they will say it isnt a match.

Hi Sliwowski

Thanks for answering - I thought I was being cheeky thinking I could get away without ordering a certificate - with the £4 refunded if it is wrong is this from the website gro.gov.uk?

When I request the birth cert should I say what I think the parents names are?

Many Thanks x

There's no way of knowing without the cert. However, if you use parents names as a checking point when ordering a search and it turns out to be wrong you'll get £4 refunded.

Hi just a quick query - I have found two births but am not sure which one is my relative - is there anyway without obtaining a certificate if I can find out either a full name of the person or the parents names to confirm the identity.

Her full name is Emma Maria Amelia Quested - born in St George in the East approx 1844ish, the two I have found are for Whitechapel and the other is for E. London but wasn't sure if there was anyway I could find out further information.

Many Thanks x
