I would be grateful for any help on how to find the name, date of birth etc. of a child born before marriage and baptised immediately. The parents later went on to marry and had a large family.

It depends on when the birth took place. If you know the mother's maiden name and where she lived then you would need to look through all the births around that time and in that area for a birth where the surname and the mother's maiden name are the same. Not sure how you could be certain that you have the right birth though.

Ancestry have all births transcribed up to 2005. Mother's maiden name is given in the index after September qtr. of 1911 so it depends on whether the birth was before or after this date.
