Yes, ..It's always a good idea to collect as much evidence as possible to check.

Do you want any help with census?
I'll look if you like.

If you want some more info, before buying cert, just post what you have and one (or more!) of us will try to access census records for you. I find it very helpful to run things past others on here, many heads being better than one.

Gwyn ~ I don't have access to census' but I may have found the right ones on 1881(only one I can see).
The more things i can cross reference with the better & the cert would be a little more to add.

The information on marriage certificates should be broadly the same since 1837.
The early ones often tend to be vague on ages,..'of full age' or 'minor' being common. Their addresses too are often just the name of a town or village, rather than a specific location.

It's a bit 'pot luck' on the really early ones. I have a parish record printout for 1859 marriage and my couple are shown as 'full age', but the entry below for a marriage the following day, by the same vicar, shows the ages of that bride and groom. ....but hopefully you should get an age by 1881.

Have you found them on 1871 and 1881 census?...Their ages should be given there.

oh good, the earliest marriage cert I have is for 1909, so I was hoping I would get what I want.

I am thinking of getting a marriage cert from 1881. My main reason for getting this is to get bride & grooms ages & fathers names. Will I get this info, for that far back?
