Thanks Malc., I've kept that for future reference.

For now I'll stick with the theory the date of conception for my examples was on dad's birthday rather than try to read too much into the GRO page numbers.

Brinsley - Yes, but unless the district has an early initial, you'll probably need births in the same quarter of differing years to get page range overlaps.

Here's the start of Vol 27 in the 1830s

So, each quarter starts again at page 1

I have a few families where the kids were always born in the same quarter. Sometimes a year, two years or five years apart. Daddy's birthday nine months before, perhaps?

The vol # refers to a county or group of counties. As for similar page numbers, I've got bookcases full of books, all containing a page 1.

Take a look here, it explains the district and page numbering.

That's been puzzling me, too, but from following other threads I gather that it's something to do with volumes and pages being allocated to specific districts or sub-districts. In other words it's not just one big list starting off with Vol 1, p1 on 1/7/1837 and running consecutively.
Perhaps someone can provide a definitive explanation or point us to a website that explains it.

Could anyone explain to me Please
Why Siblings although born in different years have the same vol and page numbers.
Thank you
Mayfly.
