Likewise Karen.

Although I asked the question, I didn't really know what I was talking about. All I know is that after reading the Tips board about someone having all her information she has researched on her tree, inputted onto another's, (after sharing her tree), I realised there was A LOT on my tree I didn't wish to be public knowledge and wanted to keep personal to myself.

I realised I had to overcome my problems with IT and use this website to find out more from the very helpful advisors out there.

I will be purchasing Family Tree Maker and working on that one, and exporting genes tree to my own computer.

Best of luck x

Karen, have a look on the Help Page as I suggested.

In simple terms Gedcom the name of a file format developed for family trees. It allows data to be freely transferred between different computers and tree programs..

It is worth remembering that there is a Help Section on this site, which is actually quite well written.

Click on Help, third in from the right at the top on the dark green bar. The section on exporting files explains it in some detail.

Thankyou both.

I wonder how often we overlook studying what is actually printed in front of us!!!!!!!

Im gonna put this down to a "senior moment" as I nearly fit that category.

Can someone please detail how I export my family tree from Genes Reunited to a gedcom file to a Family Tree Maker program. I haven't bought the program yet but will need to know how to export it. Where on Genes Reunited is the "import/export" command?
