Bigamous marriage

Could someone point me in the right direction please. I have just found out that a member of my family was the innocent party in a bigamous marriage.The bigamist was imprisoned so there must have been a trial.Is it possible to get access to the court papers or failing that check the archives of the local newspaper in Essex to see if it was reported at the time. We are looking at the mid 1950's.

There's a useful article in the August "Your Family Tree" magazine. They give this site:
newspapers.bl.uk/blcs
Apparently it is the new British Library website where you can search for newpaper reports.
