I am searching for a very common name..Robert Roberts..... He is my 2x great grandfather and the only info I have is...

My great grandparents were John Roberts and Mary Mawdsley, on their marriage cert. John`s father is named as Robert Roberts, occupation is what looks like "Farmer".

The marriage took place in Liverpool in 1868 and I have not found Robert or John in any census. The first time I have found my great grandmother Mary after her marriage, is in the 1881 census when George Massie is living as a lodger

My great grandmother came from Kirkby near Liverpool and was born in 1851.

I would very much appreciate some ideas as to how I can find John Roberts or his father Robert.

How do you know it is your Mary in 1881??

What was John Robert's age and occ on his marriage cert?

Hi Belle,

I know this is my Mary because she married George Massie in 1894.

John Roberts is "of full age" in 1868 and his occupation was "Carter".

I can't find him or Robert as you say. Can't even find the children who are named in 1881.

Don't they make life difficult!

Have you tried searching the census for Wales? I have found some of the Roberts family on my tree who lived in Liverpool on some of the Wesh census' - its worth a try!

As she was married in Liverpool and her children were born in Liverpool, there's a good chance she was there in 1871.

Sue, is it such a secret you aren't able to show it on the thread? As one of the few who did some searching, I would like to see your find.
