I have him in the 1881 census with his brother John aged 4, but there are no parents.

I notice that on both census there is no father. Wonder were he was. Strange that he is not on either isnt it.
Could I please ask you a couple more questions :-
Was Mary married or a widow on the census and were was she born.
Were bridget and Maria born in Ireland and what was their relationship to Mary Ann.
I am asking about Ireland because I am wondering if James was there in 1891 as he isnt on the 1891 census, or was he somewhere with his father????????????
