Why did I agree to research this for my friend????

My mind is a jumble at the moment, and when I asked him indoors his thoughts on the following, he just glazed over. Your thoughts please..

I have just bit the bullet and bought some 1911 credits to check iformation I had to hand. I found the family and spent 30 credits to look at the actual census. The mother had given birth to 5 live children and one had died prior to the 1911 census. I can account for the ones in the census, so went looking for the one who had died.

The couple married in 1903 and the 4 children I can acount for were born in 1905, 1907, 1909 1911 The missing one had to be born between 1903 and 1911.

I looked for a child for the name of Harbott between 1903 and 1911 and found a very likely candidate, VIOLET ROSINA born in 1904....Likely as the mother had a sister called Rosina.....But I am unable to find death for her.

Either i am going daft in my old age or I am barking up a wrong tree in surmising the Rosina name could be a candidate/

Have you checked deaths for the same period ?

Were all the other children born in the Poplar Reg District?

I have checked deaths for Violet Rosina Harbott, 1904-1911.

All the children were born in Bromley, London according to the 1911 census, but were registered in Poplar

Have you looked for Violet Rosina in the 1911? She may belong to a different family.

Have you tried looking for a marriage for her? It seems a reasonably rare name - the chances of there being two of them would seem a bit remote ...

Violet Rosina was still alive in 1911 and living in Poplar

Hi

There is a marriage for a Violet R Harbott in 1927 in Poplar, could be for the Violet you found born in 1904??

Thanks for those bits of info peeps, I will have to try and find where she was in the 1911 census as she was not at home.

My best guess based on the children's birth years you give and the births and deaths for Poplar would be below from FreeBMD.

Harbott John Albert Poplar 1c 587

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Deaths Sep 1904 (>99%)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HARBOTT John Albert 0 Poplar 1c 359

Here are 3 most likely candidates to choose from:

Agnes Mary born 1903 - died 1903
John Albert born 1904 - died 1904
Joseph James born 1904 - died 1908
