I have a listed building near me (17th century) which I think my relatives lived and worked around so of course I am intrigued to know if any of them ever lived there! Does anyone know how I would go about this? I have googled a heritage site and know that it is grade 11 listed. Any ideas please?

Unfortunately not...but it may be worth e-mailing the site to find out. Will give it a go...thanks.

When do you think your relatives may have worked there? If it was in the 19th century you may find them on a census or have you thought about certificates?

We have a National Trust property called Beningbrough Hall about 45 minutes from us and when I got the marriage certificate of my great, great grandparents this was given as the address for my great, great grandmother - she was a servant there and lived in.

How interesting Kathleen...I don't know for sure yet if my rellies lived in the actual building but they worked around it and as we go there a lot it would be nice to know something about it's history.

I have contacted the listed buildings authority in the area but they do not have any details of the occupancy of the building as is common for smaller cottages apparently. Also visited the local church and found some rellies who could be linked to mine so will follow that avenue and look at census records.
