Do you think I would be better off searching for Marriage records after 1901 instead of the death records ?

At 40 years old, he may have well remarried.

Your thoughts are much appreciated

thanks

choccy

had a look at that one too and it's not him.

Again many thanks for trying to help.

In 1901 he will have been 42, although illiterate ( he could not write his name, only make his mark) and only ever been a labourer in the ironworks, might he have emmigrated as he had no dependents ?

Can't think of any other option

regards

This is my g-grandfather who I have been able to track from his birth in 1859 in Openshaw, Manchester right through to 1901 when he appeared on the census living in Middlesbrough as a boarder. His wife was dead by then and my grandfather was in a childrens home.
I have looked at every registration up to 1925 and the only one I found registered in Birmingham was not him when I got the death certificate.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I can go from here without searching every variant of Sands.

he does not show on the 1911 census.

Many thanks
