Thankyou everyone.

Irene, yes I googled this address to find out where abouts it was. The area just didnt fit in with any of my ancestors and I couldn't understand why they had married there when just prior to their marriage in 1869 they were resident in Norwich with their parents etc who were all around Norwich. Also just after marriage in 1871 they were resident in Norwich again. So I needed to find a connection with Vorley Road.

Thankyou Bobtail for finding out there was no-one at that address in 1871. Also, I knew where Charlotte was in Norwich in 1871 Census with her baby. Just needed to know about address. Thankyou for all your help. x

Just looked in my very old AtoZ and it is there. Very near to Archway London N19 off Junction Road and the next street to it is Macdonald st. Near Archway Hall. Irene

Thankyou Jonesey for replying. Was feeling a bit lonely on Tips Board with 0 responses!

I take on board what you say, but that isn't always the case.

My Richard "upped his age on his marriage certificate to 25yrs when I know he was 22yrs. His wife Charlotte was 28yrs, so he may have been embarrassed because she was 6yrs older than he was.

I also possess a marriage certificate for another relative who appears as "of full age" even though he was considerably older than 21yrs, so that doesn't follow the norm either.

My couple didn't marry after Banns, but by Licence. Also, as far as I have recorded Charlotte wasn't expecting a child.

I thought that if I determined who lived at 67 Vorley Road, it might have some connection with this family, as my gg grandfather Richard was my ancestor who was responsible for moving the Hackworths to London where my lineage have remained ever since.

Thankyou for joining in.

Hi all,

Would anyone be kind enough to do a search of an ADDRESS on 1861 Census and 1871 Census. The 1871 Census is the most important. I don't know how to do this.

My gg grandparents Richard Hackworth and Charlotte Hodges married totallly out of the area they were living at prior and after their wedding and as far as I know there were no family in this area at the time, so I am confused.

The address is: 67 Vorley Road. (It now comes under Islington NW19). According to the marriage certificate both were living there prior to marriage. I would like to know why they were at that address, although Richard was a Commercial Traveller and his father a Grocer, so his work may have taken him into London I suppose.

Thankyou. x
