I have looked and looked, for the marriage of Jane Firkins to George Henry White. It took place in Birmingham around 1860. I have checked free bmd and ancestry, where else can I look

It mat unfortunately be one of the many marriages that did not make it to the GRO. Familysearch does not throw up any clues either. Is this them on the 1861 census?

Keith thanks for the replie, but that is'nt them. Janet yes those are the ones I have. No I don't have a certificate yet, am waiting for one of their childrens birth cert. I have someone, I shall say no more, insisting that George Henry White married Jane Firkins, I have my doubts

Lynda, a tip - don't ask for stuff based on what people tell you unless you have no other options. If it is unavoidable please say how you came by information when you post query. Saves a lot of fruitless searching!

Again many thanks replies. As it was'nt definate that a jane Firkins married George White, I looked myself and asked if anyone knew where else I could search. I did'nt mean to upset anyone

Hi Linda
I have had the same problem finding the marriage of my fathers mothers first marriage when she married my grand father in 1918 she was a widow
On the 1911 census she is down with her first husband and they were down as being married one year but still cant find their marriage any where its so frustrating when you know the names of both partners but still cant find their marriage record

I looked on other sites for you (not supposed to mention them) and haven't found anything to help. I'm sure you will get there.

Incidentally, don't worry about the remarks made by some people. They don't mean to be scathing, they are often very experienced researchers and can't perhaps understand how ordinary mortals struggle.
