have looked on CWGC web site for you to see if he died in WW1, however there are lots of W Robinsons and quite a few Wilfred Robinsons so without a regiment or even better a service number its impossible to say

Hawthorn Report 20 Aug 2009 16:04

Earlier this year I posted a topic asking if anyone can suggest what happened to Wilfred Robinson. He only had one christian name . . . . . I am still searching for him!

He was born in Yarm (on Tees) and his birth was registered in Stokesley during the first quarter of 1891. He is listed on the 1891 & 1901 census returns. The 1911 census shows him as still single and living in Bishop Auckland. I have looked for a marriage but I do not know who, where or indeed if he married. Assuming he might have married from the year 1911 I looked on Free BMD marriage index & on Ancestry with a +-20 years from 1930. There are numerous Wilfred Robinson marriages listed within this period, up & down the country.
There is a Wilfred Robinson marriage in Auckland in 1911, one in Stokesley in 1914, one in Chester-le-Street in 1922 none are correct.

I do appreciate he could have died but I can't see a death. He could have emigrated but I can't see any revelant record on Ancestry. He could even have been killed in the First World War.

Can someone please give me a tip as to how I could narrow down my search?

Help ! !
